Maybe it's me, but how can you void a warranty simply by changing the oil sooner than "required"? Never mind - don't answer that. And the statement that "...the (engines) are designed for a 10K change interval...". Okay, that may very well be, but is present day dino juice able to hold up for that time? Keeping in mind that VW's sold today are intended for mass appeal, rather than the VW enthusiast, the service managers comment may just be a service ploy, to keep you coming back. I can't for the life of me comprehend why changing the oil, as described, would do ANY harm - other than keep repeat business from a VW dealers service dept.
