Right, So I have had real bad luck replacing the oil seals on my golf. All of the ones I replaced seem to be leaking as bad (if not worse) than before I changed them. I'm about to swap bellhousing on my van and I want to change the tranny oil seal on the 'new' bellhousing. Is there any magic to changing seals that I am missing? Are the elring seals for I4 engines no good? I tried lubbing the sealing surface with oil, and with moly grease (someone told me to use grease on them, don't know if the moly stuff was the right grease to use though). Then I carefully press the seal into place and seat it with a rubber faced hammer (ie, small small mallet) slowly. Right, so any and all help on this matter is greatly appreciated. dave P.S.
