Rich and my VW owner friends, (I didn't plan on going public with this) : ) Here is the way I see it: The legal issue is whether the scheduled maintenance as set forth in the booklet is a binding contract, obligating you to destroy your engine. Let's face it, that's what will happen. Sounds silly? Not to Rich. Not to me either. In my opinion, you change the oil like you the rules of common sense say. No court in the land would allow your warranty to be voided by VWOA for you taking extra protective measures. Document what you intend to do to VWOA in a certified letter. You can be assured you are not the ONLY one with this dilemma. If they want to void your warranty FOR THAT REASON, then they will have give you prompt reasonable notice by stating so in writing. Otherwise, you are home free. Free as bird in the air, my man, to drain, drain, drain, and refill. Just my educated guess. But usually worth big bucks to some people. Usual disclaimers . . .
