Well, it seems that the monolithic valve as used on my 87 AdventureWagen
is made by a company that's now out of business.  The only option I had
was to send the valve in and wait 3 weeks for a repair.  The other option
was to replace the tank with a newer one.  So, $400 later, tomorrow I'm
getting a 10-gal tank put on.  It'll be nice to have double the capacity.

However, that leaves me wondering if anyone else wants a spare monolithic
valve (combo check and fill) for this vehicle, or even the whole tank
assembly.  I suspect that there would be an issue with shipping the whole
tank (being dangerous goods and all), and I'm having the work done in
Madison Wisconsin (USA).  You're welcome to the (broken) valve for what
it costs me to ship it to you.  Apparently there's a place that will
rebuild the valve in 3 weeks for a cost of $25 + shipping.

Anyway, the work is being done tomorrow (Wednesday, 2000-02-02) morning.
I know this is kind of short notice, but if anyone wants it, let me
know.  First come, first served.

Hopefully, the new tank has more standard parts...  Though it was kind of
a run-around just trying to find ANYONE who would deal with it.  Finally
got Custom RV Service in Madison to agree to work on it if I couldn't get
a gas company to (which they wouldn't).
