Lateral stiffness. You feel like you are going around curves on rubbery pegs. It's not the side wall, it's the tread. The PO had 27x8.5 also, but a cheaper tire with a highway tread and as I recall, 35 psi max pressure. The right front blew at 65 on the freeway, in the dark, in the rain and both flashlights failed and the spare was a different size and flat. Fortunately I have an air compressor with a built in spot light so I could see and air up.
