Wow, that is terrible. It has to be one of the usual suspects: Over tightenting the belt or extremely poor quality pumps (bad batch of seals or bearings). Or maybe someone put sand in his cooling system!

Actually, draining and flushing the cooling system wouldn't be a bad idea, there could be debris from the failed pumps circulating that is tearing up the seals. Once the seals go the bearings soon follow.
