Actually, I think that this is excellent advice. Why travel somewhere and not participate in the full range of experience. When I went to Scotland, I missed out on some fun adventures because I was concerned about the weather - it was cold and rainy all the time.

It took a while, but I finally realized that the weather is part of the experience. A trip to Vegas in July might be just the thing to warm these people up enough to make it through one more winter.

If nothing else the stories of the adventure should pay for a few rounds in the local pub.

Preparation in the key: Water and shade. Rest in the afternoon. Get out at sunrise and late in the afternoon. Vegas is on Daylight Savings Time, yes? It won't get dark until 9 or 10.
