Subject: fs: cheap westy in Sacramento
Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

A local Pick-n-Pull wrecking yard has a 1980 Vanagon Westfalia for sale for $500. This is the self-service wrecking yard on Dismantle Ct. in Rancho Cordova. They do not want phone calls and they will not even give their phone number. There are some other communication problems there, too. Thus, this westy would only be available to fast but patient locals who can make an in-person visit.

It is not running because of a "frozen" engine. It seems to be from the San Francisco area and looks like it spent a lot of time parked outside near the ocean. It has been repainted, but there are rust bubbles and seam rust. There is a hole rusted through the body at a place hidden by the rear bumper. The body has no dents. It shows wear like most 1980 vans, and some high wear items need replacement/repair, like the poptop seal, hookup covers, front seats, etc. The major camping gear is intact. Nothing seems to be missing from the engine compartment.

I would have bought it, but I have four vehicles and only two run.
