I haven't changed the tranny fluid on a vanagon yet, but if its hard to get to, you could stop by an some hardware store and pick up a drill pump. Its just a pump that you attach to your hand drill, and has a length of hose going in and out.

I used this to pump tranny fluid into the tranny and dif of a bimmer that there was no way any kind of bottle was going to get to the fill hole.
