Hello, I'm new the list. Don't own a Vanagon (yet).

I'm looking for a Synchro, and I have a few questions:

1. Did the Synchro come only with a 5-speed transmission (no automatics)?

2. Are all double-cab Synchros diesel?

3. Were there any double-cab Synchros sold (new or used) in the U.S.?

4. What's involved in importing a used double-cab Synchro from Canada? Is it possible? I read an article years ago in "VW & Porsche" (now "European Car") about some guy who imported one and put a Porsche 6-cylinder engine in it ( not that I'm interested in doing *that*...)

I've visited the <http://www.vanagon.com> site, but I can't find answers to these questions.

Thanks, Dave
