Riley and listees: 3M makes an awesome tool especially for this(and it removes contact cement offthe bottom of ABS canoes like a champ too. It's an accessory to their roloc drill adapter that's call something like "Scotch Automotive pinstripe and adhesive remover. It comes in a 4and 6" diameter and basically is about 6 thin floppy sheets of some kind of plastic and when spun at 2800-4000 rpm, they remove the unwanted stripes w/o harming the finish of the van. Never used one on the Vanagon, but for $15, it would be worth the experiment. A body shop bud of mine has had much success with his, I just clean out canoes and kayaks with mine.

MY '87 westy has three grey stripes down the sides of the van and around the back. I guess after 13 years the stripes have worn and are now looking pretty bad. I want to remove them or perhaps restore them.

Any suggestions on what i should do to remove them or restore them?

Thanks Riley Kettner
