I've also got a similar problem on my 85 Automatic, it hesitates to shift into
3rd when cold but works fine otherwise, Chuck ???? from the list suggested that
the accumulator piston and seal might be worn. Both these items are accessable
without removing the transmission and he thought they were less than 50.00. My
problem started immediately after changing the fluid and filter so I thought
that maybe someone before me had used some magic fluid. I thought that maybe a
synthetic oil that was less sensitive to temperature might help but I'm only
guessing . I have to replace the seals again between the final drive and tranny
so I may look at this soon. I'll keep you updated if I find a solution.
KEN WILFY do you know the cost of the accumulator piston and seal.?? Can the
transmission section be removed without removing the final drive so that the
seals can be renewed? Thanks
