Subject: Diesel input shaft?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello- I purchased an used input shaft for a diesel van. The shaft is a bit rough/worn on the tranny side of the surface the throw out bearing rides on. The yard I got this from (with a bunch of other diesel parts) thinks the tranny it was from was run without a TO bearing for a bit. I was wondering if this surface needs to be a harden surface or can I bring it to a machine shop, have it welded and then lathed back down to the correct diameter?

If it's not fixable, does anyone have a spare input shaft they are looking to get rid of? (need to check how much it would cost to get a gas input shaft machined down to the length of the diesel shaft though)...

dave
