I have a Shady Boy. I really like it. Very Simple. Solid. Secure. It's bolted directly to the roof, so is unlikely to ever come off. A little scary to drill holes in your roof to mount. I would have dithered, but I went directly to Shady Boy in B.C. and let Wolfgang do it. I just sort of closed my eyes and let him drill away. Pics at http://www.oz.net/~tyg/Ourcars.htm. Hi there, Anyone have any comments or experiences with the Shady Boy awning http://www.shadyboy.com/vans/index.html ) that they would like to share? For example, are the mounting brackets secure, does it hold up well in the wind, etc. I'm thinking of getting one for my 89 westy. Here is some info I got from a couple of emails to someone at the company: "colours available are the light blue, like the one on the WebPages, that is the most popular and then there is a royal blue, burgundy, teal green, grey and a silver grey which is a different fabric. That fabric is heavier and not a balloon fabric. It does not let light through and reflects the heat more due to the silver metallic surface. The grey colour will be available in 2 weeks." >> the shady boy awning sells for $195 USD plus shipping ($35 ) . Mounting >> brackets are included and there are no taxes. You can order one >> by email or >> you can contact me by phone ( 1 604 868 0269 ) For more information Thanks, Steve 89 westy |
