Hi All, For those of you who might want a damaged Vanagon (or Subaru) for parts try looking at www.iaai.com. They have auction sites all over the country and list their inventory w/ mileage on line. Two years age I almost bought a 90' Muti-van w/ 65k miles. It had been run into the back of a pickup so the frount was smacked above the frount bumper to below the windshield (which was not cracked). The rest of the van was perfect and loaded. The low bluebook was $13500 and it sold for $3200. Looking back I think I could have had it back on the road for a total of $6k doing the work myself. Last week I bought a 94' Subaru Legacy w/ 38k miles for $930. After selling off the remains, the Subaru stuff I need for my engine swap should be only $400-500 or less. This is not for everyone but check it out. If you need more info on what it was like buying at auction either p-mail or give me a ring @ 909-781-0386. I live in So.Cal. Cheers, Kevin Dawson |
