I'm going to try this again... Going the Firestone route could very well cost you considerably more than the $12.99 advertised. Chances are good you will not get the correct filter for your Westy, the technician - and I use that term loosely - may over fill the crankcase, they may strip the drain plug trying to remove it or, worse, may crossthread it when trying to reinstall it. The lack of a proper filter alone can cause major engine damage that makes your R&R of the heads look like a picnic. May not happen right away, but what if you forget to change the oil and filter after you do the heads? Heck, it's possible that these folks may try to look in the front of the bus for the engine. Don't laugh!! It happened to someone on this list!! Remember, you get what you pay for... Alan Bosch & Phred ('88 Wolfsburg) Rochester, NY

hey list, anybody have an opinion about getting a lube and filter change @ firestone for Stella(87 Westy). they are having a special for $12.99. would they use a decent filter? i am going to be doing the head gaskets next month, and i need an oil change now so i thought for a short term fix this may be worth it. hugo @ slc, utah |
