Is this very important? well ... sorta. it just gives the engine a bit less time to run without any oil coming from the filter. and it gives you something else to do with your hands while you're waiting for the old oil to drain out. :) yeah, it's a good idea to do it. and also be SURE to take some nice fresh clean oil and rub it on the rubber gasket of the new oil filter. this prevents the gasket from sticking (before the filter is snug) and bunching up ... which could cause a pressure leak (at the gasket) when the engine is cranked. hope it helps. joel |
