Had a friend/customer of mine show up yesterday to bring me a '89 Mutivan to work on for him. Really nice blue van, automatic, great. But following him was his father in a white '87 Wolfsburg Ed Vanagon. I had just looked at this page the other day about special edition Vanagons and I had thought these were only available in Europe. But the customer told me that he had originally purchased the van at a dealer in PA back in '87. The van is called a Whitestar edition Wolfsburg and had the following neat features: 1. Body panels and bumpers were white with a black stripe to match the color of the van (not silver as with a normal Wlfsbrg). 2. Dash was a light grey instead of black. 3. Kick panel under rear seat was carpeted. 4. An extra rectangular speaker was mounted in the plastic wall between the rear facing seat and the table on the driver's side (about 4" x 10"). 5. Seats all had this cool diaginal striping instead of being just grey. I just thought this was cool. Only a real Vanagon freak like myself (or some of you) would probably even care about this, but I thought I would share it with the list. This guy also owns several other Vanagons including a Crew Cab pickup (which I have seen before as well) and some Westies and passenger vans.
