Subject: Did I offend?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Since it is Friday I would like to pose a question to the list. Since joining the list about a year ago I have had two opportunities where I would have liked to purchase something from a list member. I have had both good and bad experiences doing this in the past (via other venues) and so I have related this to the seller and then tried to work out a payment solution that would be mutually beneficial. Both times I have asked that the seller send me the item C.O.D., offering (of course) to pay for the additional cost of sending something C.O.D. In fact both times I offered to send the money for the shipping up front to minimize the risk to the seller. (The worst thing that could happen to them is they would be without their item until it completes it's round trip)

On both occasions I have been told that it is not worth the trouble if it has to be sent C.O.D. And then I get bombarded with the sellers credentials and why I should have no problem trusting them. I admit that I have been and will be careful (caveat emptor) when dealing with people that I don't know. It was not my intention in either case to offend anyone, I just don't know them.

Am I wrong here and need to adjust my attitude?

I am not seeking flames, just wanting some pointers on list ettiquite

Dave Williams
