I took one on the chin from Wal-Mart a couple of years ago. It was Saturday afternoon, and the dealer was closed when I got an offer to go on a road trip. So I bit the bullet and got the $13.99 special before departing. Without reading the fine print on the bill, they put 4.5l of Quaker State in it, and half an hour later big black clouds of smoke were pouring out the back. Disconcerting to say the least. I went back to them on Monday and they paid the $400 or so for the pushrod seal. Still waiting for the apology...

By the way, the dealer only charges $19.95 Cdn. Do the US dealers really charge $14 just for the filter? For twenty bucks, I'll let the dealer fuss with it.
