I guess I'd like to clarify a couple of things on my earlier message. I regularly use credit cards for mail order and internet purchases. When I have dealt with the regular list vendors they have been more than happy to accept them. The purchases that I was referring to were dealing with private individuals. Credit cards were not an option.

Also, I have operated a computer network service company for a number of years. I have both sent and received C.O.D's via all of the major (and minor) carriers. I know about the paperwork involved (it has always seemed minimal in comparison to the risk of non-payment). I don't blame vendors who have other payment options, however the 1st transactions the seller wanted me to send him certified funds in advance, the 2nd would take a check and said he would probably send the part out in a week or two (after the check clears). I don't blame them for their policies, they don't know me.

From my own experience, you need to be generally easy going and good natured to own a Vanagon. (They just ask for more demonstrations of love than other vehicles :) Still, I think that being a member of a mailing list doesn't guarantee a person is of good character (I have a number of responses questioning mine:)

Anyway, I've appreciated the responses I've received both positive and negative.

Since I have gotten mixed responses from my earlier question so I guess it's a matter of personal preference.

Thanks again

Dave 87 Syncro (makes me a good guy, right?)
