I have a need for good tunes in anything I drive. I consider the fact that even if the vehicle leaves me sitting on the side of the road...i still have my music - so I've always gotta have a nice system. I imagine the dash dimensions are the same for the Westy as the Vanagon. I have an 85 GL and my Alpine am/fm cdplayer with its own can slipped right into the dash and fits like a glove...didn't even need to put an adapting faceplate on it. It's rated for 30amps x 4 and i power just the rear speakers on it (which need replacing - any suggestions please let me know!) and power the front speakers and subwoofer (under the middle seat) from a 40x4 amplifier that fits quite nicely concealed under the rear seat. I bought the head unit new, and the amp used. Most auto/stereo specialty stores will take the time to drop different units into your dash just to see how they'll look and fit, and have used goods from trade-ins that can save you ca$h.

..never without Uncle John's Band
