Mine has had that problem since about 1986 when I lubricated it with
silicone spray.  Perhaps a spring broke inside at the same time.  I have
not been able to get the lock apart as the bolts/screws are torqued
really tight.  I know it is not corrosion and have not had luck with
penetrating oil etc.


I have gotten used to this and just reach around inside from the pasenger
door or use the key at the same time as the lever.
