Subject: Re: Continental Tire woes
Comments: To: "~K~" <maddie@INTERLOG.COM>

KaReN,

Every set of Michelin tires that I've owned (since 1970) has had at least one tire fail with tread separation. This has almost always been near end of life anyhow, so I still buy Michelins.

However, I bought a set of new Continental tires for my '84 GL about a year ago because they were much more like the original Michelin XZX tires that came with my Vanagon than anything Michelin had to offer. I am quite happy with them, but ask me again in a few years.

As has been pointed out, be sure to get tires made for the load. The Conti's that I bought are not truck tires (LT) but rather reinforced sidewall tires (185R14R).

Free information is worth every penny.
