there was a lister who actually did this... had a '86 or '87 syncrowesty he lost in a divorce, and wanted another one. couldnt find one so he bought a '85 westy. then he bought a '86 syncro passenger van. he had his mechanic swap all the syncro stuff from the 7 pass to the '85 westy, and all the 2wd stuff back to the 7 pass. and yes, both are on the road.. (no clue as to how much the labor cost was, tho...)
