Ken and list; I have the combined switch and found a couple of problems with it. First the connector was hanging loose -- hooked up but dangling -- down below the manifold (supposedly this van had only been serviced by VW dealers and a highly regarded local mech specializing in fine German autos and high bills). Once I found that and did the multimeter test I found that I needed to do a little tweaking. Problem is that one of these places over-tweaked. Over-tweaked to the point Bentley's screw 3 is well rounded inside. The exterior of the head looks considerably thinner than screw 2 -- like somebody attacked it with pliers. I checked with a local parts guy and he has the throttle valve switch. I'll pick it up today and may have a chance to pull the throttle body later this week -- we share the use of a big garage at work and Rick's Jeep needs some attention. While I was exploring I checked all the vacum hoses and fuel lines and they all look surprisingly good. Thanks again for all the help and advice. Chuck |
