This keeps the tire on in low pressure circumstances/driving. The icelanders use this kind of tire: The tire is actually bolted onto the rim by means of a compression ring so as to keep it from coming off easily. I have found in off-roading a lot, that the tire coming off in low pressure driving is becoming a pain. Also, it would be nice if the wheel looked nice, but strength is more important than having it be light weight. So some kind of alloy wheel seems to be the ticket, but a special kind that is as strong as a steel wheel. Not sure if there is any such thing as a wheel that is: 1. 16" 2. 6.0" rim 3. 31mm offset (right Michael?) 4. Ring clamp type (icelandic) to keep tire on rim no matter how little air is in tire. 5. Some kind of nice looking alloy that looks as good as the factory 14" alloy wheels Then for a tire, I'd go with something that would fit on a 6.0" rim but is about 32" tall, narrower is probably better for clearance reasons.
