I don't know about the '86. But the '87 an up have
silver fiberglass bumpers that wrap around the body.
The '87, like mine, does not have body paneling
between the front and rear wheels. The mirrors are
also body colored. Also on '87 and up the interior
was extremely different. There are two rear facing
jump seats that easily remove, literaly less than 1
min. each. There is also a table that folds up from
the side of the van. The interior panels are also
plastic and more rugged than the velour ones. The
seating arrangement is what, in my opinion, makes the
wolfsburg a more desireable packege. It also looks a
little sportier on the outside because of the bumpers,
and also the allow wheels are standard with 205 tires.
The suspension is also 1 or 1.5" lower, which makes
it handle a *little* better. I have had both, and
will say that there is a huge differance between the
two vans. It is like night and day. As far as the
round headlight vans there is not such a differance.
