Subject: Westy Saves Valentines Day!
Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Since deciding to go cross country for 6 weeks this summer, my wife graciously decided to go back to work to help fund this trip. She puts the kids on the school bus then goes in. I go in early and get the kids off the bus. This means my after work excursions (junk yards, lumber yards, hardware store shopping, after work errands) have gone away, since i must beat the kids home (beat the kids?, no make it home before they do). Since I get home early, cooking chores have gone to me. This Valentines Day I decided to make everyone their favorite meal. Chicken pot pie for my son, an arrabiata penne for my daughter, and lobsters for us grown ups. Normally I would have just picked up all the stuff after work, but I can't do that anymore. I had to go at lunch. While walking thru the store, I had hoped to find one of those styrofoam coolers along with some ice to keep the lobsters fresh. and the chicken pot pie cool. Originally I had counted on the sub-freezing temperatures here to supply the cooling, but it was unseasonably warm this V-day. Seems styrofoam coolers are seasonable. Then, da! I realized I was drivng my Westy! I don't have a refrig, but I do have the built in Ice Chest which I normally use for dry goods. Bought a bag of ice, packed the pie and the lobsters in (also the sparkling grape juice - this is a special day). Made it home before th kids, cooked everyone's favorite meal and had a great dinner. My Westy saved Valentine's Day.

ps - We used to live in Boston where lobsters could be bought for $3.95 a lb. Here in Philly, sticker shock. I could have bought a ball joint for my westy instead. Ah, the things you do for amour.
