Hi Jeanne,

2 things: if you did not feel the differential lock in and the green light did not come one then you are Ok for driving without affecting anything mechanical.

Second now why didn't the pullout switch work? It is all vaccum actuated so there are no cables to deal with (at least in the rear diff lock on the US model - don't know about them non-imported ones) So I will assume that you have a single diff-lock like mine. OK so the pullout knob should have engaged the servo on the rear transmission. I would double check all the vacuum lines on the servo. You gotta crawl under to touch and feel the little rubber hoses. The rubber on the server are almost the lowest point under the van so they could come loose or deteriorate. OK the next thing would be to tear appart the console where the knob is located and you can check and work the knob without destroying anything. Check all the vaccum connections there. - You may need a new knob! -

Hope this helps. Joel 89 Syncro Westy in Rochester NY - playing in the snow with a syncro
