I got the Vanagon without engine so have no idea how the trans. behaves. I'm trying to take care of things needing attention while the trans. is out. My suspicion is there needs to be maybe at least 3 mm. of play in the bushings before replacement is needed, and a very significant wear area on the release shaft prongs where the release bearing rides before a new shaft is indicated. Bentley has no specs. for this. -Dana- > Dana, > Do you have clutch shudder, is that why you're concerned > about the bushings? My Eurospec'd '85 has the dreaded clutch > shudder when cold. It has a new flywheel, clutch, pressure > plate and throwout bearing. Not sure if my bushings are > the problem or if it's the tranny mount. |
