Subject: Diagnostic tool for ill '88 Westy?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

dear list-

I am suffering with a 1988 Westy drama queen. The problem is the classic bucking/ hesitation syndrome I believe. It fires right up on a cold engine and runs and idles fine. After it warms up is when the idle gets really rough. I have to completely foor it in order to get any acceleration (some smoking usually starts at this point). Out on the highway it will run only when pushed to over about 4200 rpms. Anything below that causes it to totally loose power, buck, cough, "I'm dying", smoking, the whole bit. I've tried cleaning the intake air sensor, no luck. I'm about to go digging for and start replacing the OXY sensor, the Temp II sensor and on down the list. Before I get dirty- is there a diagnostic tool that I could hook up to the engine and save myself a lot of swearing and tell me exactly what is up?? Thanks for advice...
