Date: Thu, 17 Feb 2000 14:29:17 -0800 From: Max/Joyce Wellhouse <maxjoyce@IPA.NET> Although it seems obvious, the answer imho is sleep. My experience is that even 15 minutes of dosing at a rest stop gives about 2 hours of additional driving capacity without nodding off at the wheel. Of course, I am sure that is different for everyone. Coffee, getting out of the car and running around for a few minutes, etc., all seem to be a waste of effort. I always feel drowsy within minutes of starting up again. So, sleep is the answer. Your body is going to get it, even if it is a few seconds at time while behind the wheel, and of course, this is where the danger is!

Subject: Any secrets for staying awake at the wheel?(little vanagon content)

We've all had our troubles getting sleepy at the wheel in our Vanagons(required content), so does anyone have any sure fire methods(short of speed and caffeine) that keep you alert when burning the miles up late at night. the last thing we want to do is sail off the road and as Jimmy Buffet so eloquently crooned, "...was quickly woken up by a Ma Bell telephone pole...". Not only would this bag of tricks keep our Vanagons healthy(bonus vanagon content), but it could do wonders for our own physical well being.
