In the german VW-Bus-Forum many people use the clear turn signals. They reported that after some time water comes into these lenses. Now they first seal the area where the lens is glued to the frame, with silicone or else, before mounting the turn signal. Also U.S. spec turn signals are different from the german ones. I heard that the U.S. ones have another lens pattern so the 5watt side markers are reflected more to the sides of the van, not only to the front. German cars do not have side markers, so the lens mostly reflects in front direction...

Here in germany you get the clear signals for 169 DM. If 1 dollar is still about 2 DM they are $80-90. But then they still have to be sent to the U.S....
