I do believe that the damage at startup is a more a circulation issue than
a temperature issue. When the oil pump stops, the oil runs back to the
lowest point in the engine. This leaves little lubrication for the next
motions; which, after I cut out my engine, is startup. I believe this is
one benefit of a dry sump system which helps to overcome the lack of oil
thru pressurizing before start up.
