I have replaced the short, hard to reach belt receptical in my '82 with
longer ones from an '83.  Don't know if the reason for the short ones
were the swivel seats or if VW just realized how hard it  was to reach
the short ones.  You might check again to see if can use the ones from
the '84 without any problem.
