I had a similar thing happen to me years ago in a Jeep CJ-5 - the culprit was an improperly-spec'd pressure plate. (The unit specified in the parts book had the wrong spring pressure). I would make darned sure that the unit that was used (and will be used as a replacement) is a genuine German or other quality part and not some cheapy aftermarket unit. (When I replaced my Jeep's chattering pressure plate I realized the the "correct" one was about 3X the price of the one that was sold to me by the engine shop)

list-ees

as part of my two heads and a waterpump job recently I also had the guy change out the clutch. Unfortunately it now chatters (the clutch, not the engine) when warm. He suspects a faulty unit and is going to replace it, but I am wondering if this is a reasonable diagnosis and what would the heat be doing - reducing the compression of the springs or something?
