The sliding window in the door of our '85 GL has broken three times in three years. No apparent reason for any of the breaks: twice while driving, once while opening the door - gently. The glass and body shops are stumped. The door is straight and true, as is the aluminum window frame. The last replacement pane (2 square feet of flat, tempered tinted glass with two small holes for the latch) cost $280. It's a $100 insurance claim to us, but a senseless waste of money nonetheless. We were wondering if any list members have had similar experiences. We are going to try having a laminated pane made; so far it sounds cheaper than our $100 deductible! |
