Sorry about the lack of title in the last post...
Fuel pump's real noisy. Replace the thing you say? I thought of that, but seems this pump is made of pure Unobtainium and costs almost $200.
The symptoms: It's real loud. I can hear it even at interstate speeds. Noise starts after about 10 seconds. I can turn the key to turn engine off then return the key back to the accessory position and the pump noise starts again. There is no 10 second delay when doing this after the vehicle was running.
I recently replaced the gas tank with a good used one. Replaced fuel pump also. I'm suspicious of rust, and I am not sure whether the pump is "upstream" of the filter. FLAPS has a pump for more than Ron at Bus Depot. I'll probably buy Ron's, but FLAPS also has a few generics that they'd love to sell me for about $35. Anybody tried a generic fuel pump? At what PSI does the vanagon system operate? I think they're metal lines, so what kind of fuel line adaption to a generic pump for "foreign cars" am I looking at?
So now I need a fuel pump, a clutch slave cylinder (and probably master cylinder while I'm under there), a front heater fan (and probably heater core while the dash is out), a rear heater core, a CV (I'll probably do them all)...... Katy's Caravan is looking better and better!!!! ____________________________________________________________________ Get your own FREE, personal Netscape WebMail account today at http://webmail.netscape.com. |
