power, select the correct turbo to match the engine. Change to the dual-dual
throat 48 mm or 50 mm throttle bodies with quad OR EIGHT injector setup.
Change FI to the CB Performance Competition digital FI setup with the Turbo.
Add the Swain Tech Turbo Ceramic coating to protect the engine from the heat.
Then Step on the gas and HANG ON...
IF the engine is prepped right, the turbo is setup correctly 150 to 250+
Horse Power is easily attainable AND IT WILL LAST 100,000 miles plus, If
driven a littler past reasonable but not too wild.
The deciding factor is the cost.

AND emissions.
IT CAN BE DONE, a lot of Bug owners have gone turbo.
CB Performance has the hardware you supply the money and labor.
The only sacrifice is the rear deck will need to be raised to clear the
throttle bodies AND the emissions issue. If the engine is built well then it
should run CLEANER than a stock engine BECAUSE it burns more of the fuel
entering into the chamber than the stock.

The turbo increases the intake air pressure so if using with stock I do not
think that the Stock FI can react to the increase of flow so this needs to be
changed.
The added heat can be dealt with by adding the turbo ceramic coatings from
Swain Tech inside critical engine surfaces- ALL surfaces that touch heat and
the exhaust system. The engine will run cooler and the engine compartment
will be cooler.
Beef the engine up a little to take the added power.
I think IF done CORRECTLY the engine can live a long life turbo'ed.
The above costs are guestaments. CB Performance has under the deck turbos
for T1 Beetle engine that can probably be converted to work on a Wasserboxer
engine, they are basically the same dimensions just the exhaust flanges to
the heads have a reversed bolt pattern. Get the kit and do a few mods and it
would fit.
