I just sanded that plate and the symbols off but before I did I mada a photocopy of the symbols so that I could get a sign engraver to make a new plastic face. Usually they have two layers so that when they grind through the top layer (black) the white layer shows up underneath. I'll see how much he'll charge for a new one. If that is ridiculous I'll draw one in Autocad and plot it out on a piece of self adhesive vinyl on an ink jet printer. I'm not sure how long this would last but I'll let you know what I find out.
