Volks, From time to time this winter, my olfactory appendage has detected the delicate scent of coolant inside my '87 Westfalia. I've inspected the hoses (engine, rad, front and rear heaters) for leaks but didn't find any. Am I correct in suspecting one or both of the heater cores are on their last legs? Assuming it is a heater core, does the cooling system have to be bled of air bubbles after replacing the core? A high priority item on my spring/summer project list is to dismantle the dash in order to replace the blower motor or at least free the canaries that have been trapped there for a couple of winters ;>) This would be a good time to kill two birds with one stone (no offence to ornithologists on the list) and replace the heater core as well.
