Hi all,


I just got the quote to rebuild my 86 auto transmission and had a bit of
sticker shock.  Does $1100 sound right for a complete rebuild??  The
trans has 124K on it and shifted OK.  I just bought the van as a
fixer-upper and want to get it in top shape.  The AT fluid was chocolate
brown and there was evidence it leaked.  It apparently needs a new
torque converter.  I was told that labor was $475 and the rest was for
parts (not from the dealer but OEM quality).  I think the shop has a
good reputation and the techs there seemed to know their stuff.  I just
didn't expect the price.  TIA.
