On my high mileage engine the light will flicker if the oil is too thin. I run mineral based 20w-50 oil and use the Mahle or Mann filters. Sometimes the synthetics are "physically" too thin for a high mileage engine, or any engine with some bearing wear. Their better (and purer) molecular structure allows them to be physically thinner for the same weight rating, which is performance based (by testing), not actual physical viscosity. This gives them the benefit of slightly better gas mileage as well.

Mineral based oils with a rating of 20w-50 are more viscous than a synthetic rated 10w-50, and will give you higher oil pressure. It might be time to change oil types. -- Stuart MacMillan Manager, Case Program 800-909-8244 ext. 8208
