Yes, but there is also a screen that will hold a bit of debree (if there are any). Just clean it off.

Yes, there are points, and they are replaceable. What she really should do is spend some $$ and get a pointless ignition module from Pertronix or similar. Then you can forget about those points, which are a PITA.

Nothing more special than most cars, just be sure that the plugs are fresh, and get the correct type if they need to be replaced. The numbers are NGK B5HS or Bosch W7DC

Make sure there is enough oil in the air filter. It should be filled to the red line that goes around the interior of the filter housing.

A spare fan belt is always important, as is oil for fill ups. Many people think that the air does all the cooling, but that is not completely right. The oil does about half of it. If the fan belt breaks, the fan stops and no air is applied to the cylinders. Compare to a head gasket failure, no coolant = no engine. I cant think of any other parts needed to drag along, I have never had any need for those in my aircooled vehicles.

A few tools is always nice though!
