Well I guess we all have different thoughts on this. The 66 I drove was bored out to a 1600. I personally would not want to check the vavles every 6K miles, that's every two oil changes and for me it was a time consuming task, especially since I had worked at home. I do believe that the late model bugs, the superbeetle, did receive hydralic lifters and even fuel injection. I guess it all depends on what kind of driving the bug will be doing, city, hiway?
