Subject: Yeah! Bio-diesel!

I can't remember who made mention of the used fryer grease, but I agree whole heartedly! The key here is there aren't many folks doing it, that is what makes it a "good thing" for me right now. I get 6 gallons per week from the local Bar and Restaurant. We only have a pop. of 320 , so there aren't any major restaurant chains here. Not far away though, there is more ....civilization. What I'm trying to do and eventually hope to accomplish is , raising the awareness level of these thick headed folks around here! I'm pushing for a press/mill to be set up at the local farmers elevators (co-ops) . There is no reason that we can't press out the oil of some of these crops, and still use the meal for cattle feed! In turn the farmers can burn the bio-fuel in their tractors. Now if we could just get some folks to grow rapeseed (canola) , we would have a great step up! I don't have my diesel Vanagon/ Westy yet, but I'm experimenting on my rabbits and will have a straight vegetable oil burner by summer. I guess if I have to I will convert my waterboxer to a diesel!?! Tom
