Mine looked like cones as well but if you look at the base of the cones you should see a thin flat "ring" that can be gripped with vice grips

Sorry to bother the list again with my problems. My blower motor sits, awaiting an answer to the latest problem. The Breakaway Bolts on the steering column, the upper ones, are not breaking away. If you look in the Bentley manual, you'll see that the bolts there have the knurled heads that can be grasped by vice grips and turned. Mine however, look like volcanoes! like cones! I see no way to grasp them and I have tried to drill the middle, but so far have only heated up the drill! Any and all suggestions welcome! HELP! TIA, Mike - 86 Westy syncro
