I'm with John here - just filled up the Syncro and computed 22mpg running 60mph on the highway. It has the usable space of a Suburban and AWD; compare to the 4wd 5.7L Suburban we rented in Portland last summer, that's about 50-60% better use of gasoline for comparable utility.

Now, I'll bet that the Suburban probably emitted less CO and HC per mile than almost any 15 year old Vanagon! But that's another topic (he said ducking beneath the desk).
