1966 was the year that the 1500 was introduced to the Beetle ragne! THe type3 was
renamed from 1500 to 1600 in 1966, as the Beetle was "upgraded" to the 1500 engine. It
would be very confusing to have two cars with the 1500 name, so the type3 became the
1600.
